UHB has many specialist clinics, rather than general clinics, published on NHS eReferrals, e.g. "cataract clinic" or "glaucoma clinic", as opposed to a "general ophthalmology clinic".

SNOMED CT was introduced in June 2009 and replaced "Keyword" search. SNOMED CT allows providers to accurately define services and enables referrers to search for services more effectively.

You can use the SNOMED CT search facility on NHS eReferrals by typing in, for example "cataract", and a list of associated clinical terms will be displayed. By selecting your chosen term, NHS eReferrals will provide a list of appropriate services to offer as a choice to your patient.
