Appeal for staff: Friday evening/Saturday morning shifts

Story posted/last updated: 02 March 2018

Dear colleagues,

Thank you to everyone who has managed to make their way into work today (Friday 2 March 2018) to ensure continued delivery of care, despite the poor travelling conditions.

To ensure that the Queen Elizabeth Hospital site is safely staffed, we are appealing to any clinical, support and facilities staff who live within a reasonable distance of the hospital, and who are available to work a Friday evening or Saturday morning shift, to contact QEHB+ or their manager in hours, or the site team ‎on 0121 371 6158 out of hours and over the weekend, who will be able to advise if extra staff are required.

Arrangements are also being made for accommodation on-site for staff who are unable to travel between their shifts today and tomorrow. Provision will include a change of uniform, towels, food vouchers etc. Staff are to report to the site office/Ops Centre regarding this.

Any members of staff arriving at work late but having made all reasonable attempts to get to work on time due to the current weather conditions are advised that TOIL/pay will not be adversely affected.

All staff should familiarise themselves with the Trust's Inclement Weather Plan (available to download below).

The Trust is unable to provide any 4x4 transport for staff. We are advised that public transport is subject to delays but is currently operating. However, for local/regional travel updates, please see the links below.

Thank you,
Michele Owen, Interim Chief Nurse
