Beckham and Winstone visit patients

Story posted/last updated: 01 August 2013

Footballer David Beckham and actor Ray Winstone met injured troops during a private visit to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham (QEHB) on Wednesday 16 January 2012.

The pair spent around an hour and a half visiting military and civilian patients and their families on the mixed trauma ward before meeting a number of staff from the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine (RCDM).

David Beckham then went on to the Teenage Cancer Trust Young Persons Unit at the hospital, where he chatted with patients aged 16 – 24 years and the staff caring for them.
