Best in Care Awards

Best in Care Awards winners revealed

Story posted/last updated: 24 October 2014

Patients, relatives and health professionals paid tribute to the dedication and care given by staff and volunteers across the Trust during a special night of celebration.

Now in their sixth year, the annual Best in Care Awards ceremony, which was held on Thursday 23 October 2014, celebrated achievement and innovation, and recognised those who go above and beyond to provide excellent care.

The worthy winners received prizes and certificates presented by a host of famous faces including Birmingham’s Lord Mayor, BBC correspondent Giles Latcham and patient Satpal Mahal - who underwent the world’s first frozen liver transplant earlier this year.

In a special video message, Olympic heptathlon champion Jessica Ennis-Hill praised staff at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for their "amazing level of care and support to the patients".

Speaking of this year’s winners, University Hospital Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust’s (UHB) Chief Executive Dame Julie Moore said: “The Best in Care Awards is my favourite event of the year and is by far one of the most inspiring.

“These awards highlight some shining examples of how individuals and teams proudly uphold the Trust’s vision and values. My congratulations go everyone who was nominated and I offer my sincerest thanks to this year’s winners.”
