Notice of election for the Council of Governors of University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust

The Trust gives notice that it will hold elections to the Council of Governors of University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.

Elections are to be held for the following number of governors in accordance with the Trust’s Constitution:

Governors for the following public constituency areas

  • Edgbaston
  • Hall Green
  • Northfield
  • Selly Oak
  • Erdington, Hodge Hill, Ladywood, Yardley, Perry Barr and Sutton Coldfield

Two governors for the patient governor constituency

To be eligible to stand for election, individuals must be members of University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust – membership forms may be obtained from:

The term of office will commence on Saturday 1 July 2017 and end on Tuesday 30 June 2020*.

All nomination forms should be received by the Returning Officer at the address shown above by 12:00 on Friday 19 May 2017. Faxed or emailed nominations will not be accepted.

Notices of withdrawal must be received by the Returning Officer by no later than 17:00 on Wednesday 24 May 2017.

In the event of there being more than one nominee for a position, ballot papers will be distributed to qualifying Trust members in the relevant constituencies on Wednesday 7 June 2017. These will be sent out as a hardcopy via post and also electronically via email to those members who have registered email addresses. If you have not registered your email address with UHB, please email the Membership Team.

Completed ballot papers must be received by the Returning Officer by no later than 17:00 on Thursday 29 June 2017.

The results of the elections will be published on the UHB website.

* Candidates are asked to note that, if elected, their term of office may be brought to an end earlier than Tuesday 30 June 2020, as part of new governance arrangements to be implemented in the event of the proposed merger, by acquisition, of the Trust with Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust taking place during the term.
