Diabetes Week kicks off on Sunday 11 June and this year the theme is ‘Know Diabetes. Fight Diabetes’.  

Come and visit our stand in the QEHB atrium on Tuesday 13 June from 10:00–14:00 as we raise awareness of the condition amongst staff, patients, visitors and carers.

While a lot of people have a good understanding of diabetes and how to manage it, many others aren’t getting the right help and support to look after their condition. 

According to Diabetes UK, today, 65 people will die early from the condition and hundreds more will face life-changing complications that could have been avoided or delayed if they'd had the right knowledge and support to manage their diabetes.

We know that the right knowledge has the power to transform lives. Knowledge gained from the experience of people living with diabetes, knowledge gained from research discoveries, knowledge from the people working with diabetes every day. Knowledge gained from attending study days and diabetes sessions.

Together, we all need to fight the challenges that diabetes presents.

Hear from professional athletes with diabetes

On Wednesday 14 June from 15:00–16:00, join the world's first team of all-diabetes professional cyclists, triathletes and runners at the Main Lecture Theatre in the Institute of Translational Medicine (ITM) - located on Mindelsohn Way opposite Nuffield House - as they describe how they manage their diabetes while competing at the top of their sport.
