Afternoon tea and cake

Afternoon tea event for nurses

Story posted/last updated: 11 October 2016

Do you have a passion for nursing older adults? Is rehabilitation your thing?

There is something very special about the Queen Elizabeth Hospital’s Heritage Building. It celebrates the Trust’s rich nursing heritage and decades of pioneering clinical care and it is home to our Older Adults nursing teams.

The Heritage Building comprises five smaller wards, two of which are the traditional ‘Nightingale’ style of ward. However, while the layout may be nostalgic, there is nothing old or historical about the care we deliver or the environment we work in. All of the wards have been updated to ensure they offer the care environment suited to the older adults with acute medical problems and for those undergoing rehabilitation and enablement.

The teams are warm and friendly and can offer you the support, education and training required to enable you to work in one of our Heritage wards. We have a supportive Clinical Education Team and Specialist Nurses who provide training and education in how to care for patients with dementia and complex health care problems. We also offer a range of shift patterns to suit nurses that want part time or full time posts.

Are you interested? If so we would like to invite you to our Heritage Building on Thursday 20 October 2016 for a slice of cake and a cup of tea so that you can meet some staff and have a look around our wards. You can see what we have to offer, how we care for our patients and how we have enhanced their environment.

There really is something for everyone looking for a new challenge and we would love to meet you. This is a unique opportunity to discuss career opportunities in older adult care and for you to explore the shift patterns and hours we can offer.

To register your interest and for further information about the event (times, directions etc), please email your name, contact phone number and where you currently work as a registered nurse to Lucy Martin:
