Good Hope Hospital recruitment open day

We are holding a recruitment open day at Good Hope Hospital on Saturday 21 August, 10:00 – 14:00.

We are offering a range of roles including:

  • Nursing
  • Healthcare Assistants/Trainee Nursing Associates
  • Theatres and Interventional Radiology (for qualified and unqualified staff)
  • Facilities – catering, housekeeping and portering

Registered nurses

These sessions are suitable for registered nurses or students who qualify in the next six months and are interested in working at Good Hope Hospital. Candidates can meet teams and explore opportunities, including full time (37.5 hours per week) and part time or flexible working patterns.

Your session will be taking place in Room 1 and 2 in the education centre at Good Hope Hospital. The Education Centre is on the left past the Richard Salt entrance.

Healthcare assistants / Trainee nurse associates

These sessions are suitable for people interested in becoming a healthcare assistant/support worker in wards/outpatient departments and those interested in undertaking the Trainee Nursing Apprenticeship programme.

You will be provided with information from existing HCA’s/TNA’s about the education and training provided to support post holders and have the opportunity to discuss the role, working hours and patterns and gain an understanding of the career progression opportunities within the Trust.

This session is taking place in the Thomas Guy Lecture Theatre, in the Education Centre. The Education Centre is on the left past the Richard Salt entrance.

Theatres and Interventional Radiology

These sessions are designed for people interested in working in theatres as a theatre support worker. These roles support registered practitioners in ensuring that patients care cared for before, during and after surgery. Our theatre support worker roles are our first step on the career pathway in theatres and people with the right qualifications can progress on to the Operating Department practitioner degree apprenticeship which leads to a degree level qualification.

If you are an existing Assistant Theatre Practitioner (Band 4) please book in to the unregistered session and we can discuss career development pathways on an individual basis. The sessions for qualified staff are suitable to current Registered Nurses/ Operating Department practitioners and students in their last six months.

These sessions will be taking place in the Harry Hollier Lecture Theatre, which is in the Partnership Learning Centre at Good Hope Hospital. It can be found straight ahead if you come into Good Hope from Rectory Road and past A&E and the Treatment Centre.

Facilities

Facilities (Housekeeping, Catering and Portering) – these sessions are aimed at people who are interested in working at Good Hope Hospital within Facilities and would like to gain a more in-depth knowledge of the various roles available. We can offer full time, part time and flexible working patterns.

Previous experience within facilities is not essential but would be beneficial. Full training for these roles will be provided. Facilities are committed to investing in our teams and provide opportunities for staff to further develop their potential. To find out more information, please book onto one of the sessions below. It is recommended that candidates complete/update an online profile on the NHS Jobs website prior to attending.

Catering

Your session will be taking place in Room 3 in the education centre at Good Hope Hospital. The Education Centre is on the left past the Richard Salt entrance.

Further information

Good Hope Hospital, located in the Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield, was founded in 1943 as a convalescent home and while the site is relatively compact, it hosts over 2,300 friendly staff and is home to state-of-the-art educational facilities and provides revolutionary care in a modern setting.

The Hospital has excellent transport links with easy access to the motorway network and a frequent rail service operating between Birmingham City Centre and Lichfield.

The Royal Town’s famous Rectory Park is just across the road from Good Hope, offering plenty of green space.
