Workshop: patient access to health records

Since its launch in July 2012, myhealth@QEHB has enabled more than 6,000 patients to access their health record online.

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) is working in partnership with the Academic Health Science Network (AHSN) to package and share the knowledge gained from the system's launch and usage.

As part of its commitment to share knowledge across the NHS, UHB would like to invite IT and informatics professionals, clinical leads, and patients and carers to an expert-led workshop to be held on Monday 2 February 2015 from 10:00 – 16:00 at Radcliffe House at the University of Warwick.

Key deliverables

  1. Knowledge of how myhealth@QEHB was developed and implemented
  2. A complete run down on how myhealth@QEHB works
  3. Breakaway workshops for patients, carers, clinicians and IT/informatics professionals:
    1. Empowering patients
    2. Clinical leadership and engagement
    3. Data linkage and systems integration
  4. Meaningful insight and guidance on how the portal can be integrated into other healthcare providers
  5. Future opportunities and areas for development:
    1. Care planning and patient outcomes measurement
    2. Virtual clinics
    3. Integration with telehealth devices
    4. Harnessing myhealth@QEHB for clinical trials and research
    5. Developing partnerships for technical development

Hosts

The workshop will be hosted by:

  • Daniel Ray, Director of Informatics at UHB
  • Dean Grinham, Deputy Director of IT at UHB
  • Dr James Ferguson, clinical lead for myhealth@QEHB
  • Professor Theo Arvanitis, Professor of e-Health Innovation and Head of Research (the Institute of Digital Healthcare)

All participants will be provided with a documented package of learning materials to share with their respective organisations.
