Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham

New audiology patient and public involvement group

Story posted/last updated: 05 March 2019

PANDA (Patient Advice, Information and Discussion Audiology) is a group for people affected by hearing loss in any way and is open to patients, friends and family, researchers and health professionals who are committed to improving the care of people with hearing loss.

PANDA provides a forum to meet with other people affected by hearing loss, to share experiences, understand the condition better and to work with clinical staff and researchers to improve clinical care and facilitate research for people living with hearing loss. Research opportunities include everything from sharing your ideas and priorities to becoming a researcher yourself. Together, we can make a difference for people with hearing loss.

The group meets three or four times per year at QEHB. There is usually a formal talk explaining an aspect of hearing loss or a research idea, but the group always prioritises time for discussion both as a whole group and in smaller informal chats over coffee. Light refreshments are provided at each meeting and there is no cost or commitment. Free on-site parking is also available.

The group is run by the NIHR ENT/Audiology department at UHB.
