Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham

Our statement on recent high-profile misrepresentation of the Trust on Facebook

Story posted/last updated: 23 February 2016

Patient safety is our number one priority at QEHB.

A recent Facebook post published by a doctor training at the hospital significantly misrepresented the situation surrounding patient care. A registrar was supporting the junior doctor in caring for patients at the hospital  until 00:30 and was available to continue that support should it have been needed.

There was a consultant oncologist on-call and the hospital has a clinical management team who are present in the hospital 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

At no time was the registrar, on-call consultant or management team made aware of any issues surrounding the care of cancer patients.
