Protect our patients from norovirus
Story posted/last updated: 06 February 2018
There are currently a number of wards affected by norovirus across the hospital. Norovirus spreads rapidly and causes sudden onset diarrhoea and vomiting. We have identified that outbreaks have started after sick relatives have visited the ward or a symptomatic patient has been transferred to a bay.
Do you have diarrhoea, vomiting or flu symptoms?
To help protect our patients, please do not visit your relatives and friends on wards in the hospital if you feel unwell.
Our senior staff will:
- Ensure visitors to wards do not have symptoms of diarrhoea, vomiting or flu-like illness
- Ensure patients with diarrhoea, vomiting and flu-like illness are isolated in a side room
- Report concerns to the infection prevention and control team immediately
Thank you for your co-operation.
