Rare Disease Day will be celebrated in the atrium of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham (QEHB) on Thursday 28 February 2019.

The annual event aims to raise awareness of the work being done to diagnose, treat and cure rare diseases.  

At the Centre for Rare Diseases (CfRD), patients are seen by specialists and wider multi-disciplinary teams in one visit.

Since opening in autumn 2015, tens of thousands of patients have been welcomed at the CfRD.

With a Children’s Centre for Rare Diseases based at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Birmingham is the first city in the country to have specialised rare disease centres across the whole age range.

On Rare Disease Day 2019, interactive stands and displays in the QEHB atrium will showcase the work being done to diagnose and treat rare diseases across the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) sites.
