Trust showcases IT innovation at EHI Live

Story posted/last updated: 29 November 2012

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) will be showcasing some of its latest developments in healthcare IT at EHI Live at the NEC on Monday 7 and Tuesday 8 November 2011.

UHB will be among the 100 leading suppliers represented at the event, which is run by E-Health Insider and includes stands, a free exhibition, networking opportunities and a programme of seminars throughout the two days.

Julie Moore, UHB Chief Executive, is the first of the Trust’s speakers with her  "view from the top" presentation during the opening morning of the event.

She will outline how, to complement UHB's world-class clinical care, the in-house IT and informatics team has developed a number of electronic systems that save lives, save time and save money.

Also from the Trust, Daniel Ray, Director of Informatics and Patient Administration, will present a seminar on the use of informatics to manage quality of care delivery. He will deliver a second session later in the day about the "DNA" algorithm used to reduce the number of outpatient "did not attends".

Ian Clark, Head of the Wolfson Computer Laboratories at the Trust, discusses recent extensions to PICS – the rules-based clinical decision support and e-prescribing system developed in-house at UHB.

The UHB stand can be found at A24, opposite the best practice showcase theatre.
