UHB to host LGBTIQ+, Intersectionality and Islam Conference

UHB will host the LGBTIQ+, Intersectionality and Islam Conference on Saturday 23 February from 09:30 – 16:00.

The conference is free to attend, and will be held in the Education Centre, Level 1, QEHB.

Speakers will cover topics such as:

  • Life as an LGBTIQ+ Muslim in the U.K: Taking the Pulse
  • If You Can’t be Yourself, Who Can You Be?
  • Being Intersex: Gender and Sex Diversity Affirmation in Islam
  • Allyship through Secularism
  • Bisexuality, Islam and the Immigration System
  • Hope, Once You Choose Hope, Anything’s Possible
  • Don’t Read The Comments: Queer Muslim Self-Care In A Digital Age
  • Celebrate your Liberties
  • Choosing Identities
  • Sexuality: Post 9/11
  • Not Or, But And: Being Your Authentic Self with London Queer Muslims
  • Showing Solidarity: Including Trans People in Our Mosques, Meetings and Minds

There will also be a panel discussion about "How empowering is it to be an LGBTIQ+ Muslim and how can we build ally networks?"

Panellists will be announced closer to the event.
