Vascular services
Story posted/last updated: 01 August 2013
A new model for vascular surgery is being introduced across University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust and Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust (SWB) to improve services for patients.
The changes come into effect on Monday 10 September and will combine the strengths offered by both trusts to deliver more efficient and effective treatment.
The single model of care will mean that inpatients (planned admission) and emergency cases, plus vascular interventional radiology procedures, will be transferred to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.
SWB will retain vascular surgery day case and outpatient work at both City and Sandwell hospitals.
UHB inpatients will be treated on Ward 305, with some renal beds transferring to Ward 304.
