Visitors and staff meet PM
Story posted/last updated: 29 November 2012
Prime Minister David Cameron met patients and staff when he visited Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham (QEHB) as part of the Government’s “listening exercise” to hear people’s views on proposed reforms to the NHS.
Mr Cameron was accompanied by Health Minister Simon Burns and Steve Field, Chair of the NHS Future Forum, during the afternoon visit on Friday 6 May.
His first stop was Ward 515 where he was greeted by Senior Sister Liz Miller and her team, before meeting patients and their families.
He then went to the Education Centre where around 30 frontline staff had gathered to ask questions about plans to restructure the health service.
The PM, Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, and Health Secretary Andrew Lansley launched the Government’s listening exercise in April.
UHB Chief Executive Julie Moore is one of five members of the NHS Future Forum – the panel set up to listen to the concerns of medical staff and patients.
