Cancer services

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest regional centres for non-surgical cancer treatment. It has established links with surrounding cancer units and we accept referrals from the whole of the British Isles and from overseas.

The Cancer Centre has 19 consultant oncologists offering a high degree of sub-specialisation by tumour site.

Consultant medical oncologists are specialists in delivering treatment for cancer or the side effects of cancer by prescribing medicines. Consultant clinical oncologists also prescribe radiotherapy. The consultants work within a professional and established team to provide the best possible care to patients, their families and carers.

Our Cancer Centre also has a special cancer information centre, the Patrick Room, which provides details of symptoms and treatments of specific cancer. This service is available to patients, family, carers and healthcare professionals.
