Emergency surgery specialty quality indicators

Cardiac surgery

The cardiac surgery ward (Ward 306) is located on level 3 in the new Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. The Intensive Therapy Unit (ITU) and theatres are situated on level 2.

The service provides patients with expert medical care for the population of the West Midlands and beyond, providing specialist services such as transplantation and aortic surgery. Clinical research is supported by several active trials.

The group is committed to providing a consistent and evidence-based approach to care supported by the development of integrated care pathways and protocols.
