The Clinical Governance Support Unit (CGSU) helps the Trust to meet its statutory duty to maintain high-quality services. They also work with doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals to maintain and improve the quality of the care that they offer.
Clinical governance is not carried out by the CGSU, as clinical governance is responsibility of each member of the Trust's staff. Instead the CGSU team works together with other members of staff.
The Head of Clinical Governance is assisted by four clinical governance facilitators, two clinical audit and information officers, a clinical effectiveness assistant and a personal assistant.
The Risk Management Department is also part of the CGSU. The staff also work closely with the Patient Services Department, Health Informatics and the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS).
