CyberKnife private patients

Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham provides a Cyberknife service for NHS and private patients at the Mindelsohn Suite.

CyberKnife is a robotic system which uses high doses of radiation with sub-millimetre accuracy. This means it has the ability to treat tumours located in traditionally difficult-to reach parts of the body.

Some small tumours not routinely funded by the NHS may be suitable for Cyberknife with treatment available through private health insurance policies.

Patients can enjoy the comfort and benefits associated with private healthcare, together with the reassurance and clinical support of a large NHS Trust, with the most up-to-date equipment, a consultant led service and experienced healthcare professionals.

Why choose Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham (QEHB)?

As a centre of excellence for cancer, QEHB has the largest radiotherapy department in the region and some of the most advanced facilities available in Europe. It is the only centre in Europe to have a CyberKnife, two TomoTherapy HD machines, a range of linear accelerators and brachytherapy.

QEHB provides a regional cancer centre service and is a national treatment centre for some rarer tumour types. All patients are discussed at an appropriate multidisciplinary team meeting where specialists from all areas discuss the treatment options, offer the benefits of their expertise and reach a consensus about the most appropriate treatment plan.

The on-site radiotherapy clinical teams have developed highly specialist additional skills and have extensive experience in delivering a range of complex cancer treatments.

The Mindelsohn Suite

The Mindelsohn Suite private patient facility is adjacent to the radiotherapy department and offers a modern relaxing environment conducive to your well-being.

Our friendly staff will be on hand to answer any questions you may have and assist you throughout your visit. Please let us know if you have problems getting to your appointments and we will do what we can to help.

All revenue from private treatment is used to help maintain and improve standards throughout the hospital.

For more information on the Mindelsohn Suite and radiotherapy services for private patients, please see our private patients website (link below).

QEHB is recognised by most insurers and accepts self paying patients.
