If you have an accident and are seriously unwell, you should go straight to the Emergency Department and show staff your bleeding disorders card to make them aware of your diagnosis. There is always a haematology doctor on call at QEHB who can advise on your care. If you have a non-urgent query which still requires review, you can contact the on-call haematology registrar via the switchboard:

Please inform the doctor of your problem. You may be advised to attend the Acute Oncology Unit (AOU), located on Ward 622.

If you do not have a bleeding disorders card, please ask the team for one.

If you are admitted to another hospital then you should show staff your bleeding disorders card and ask that they contact the haemophilia team at QEHB as soon as possible. If needed, there are doctors available at all times who can be contacted through the hospital switchboard.

1. If you have a bleed outside of working hours (Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 16:30), please call the switchboard on 0121 371 200 and ask to speak to the on-call haematology registrar
2. Tell the doctor what your diagnosis is, and what the problem is
3. The doctor will advise what you should do (it is likely you will be asked to attend the Acute Oncology Unit (AOU) on Ward 622)
