What we are doing to fight infection

The Infection Control Team ensure that University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust's (UHB) rigorous Infection Control Strategy is delivered effectively, while still maintaining optimal standards of patient care.

UHB has also joined the National Patient Safety Agency's "Clean Your Hands Campaign", which promotes good hygiene for staff, patients and visitors in hospitals.

As well as this, regular infection control education sessions are available for all staff, and more specialised training is encouraged for relevant staff. For example, most of the Trust's domestic staff have completed a specialist BTEC Intermediate Certificate in infection control.
