A guide to breast reconstruction

A guide to breast reconstruction is a DVD which helps women make informed decisions about their surgery.

The DVD, funded by Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham (QEHB) Charity, provides details of the various reconstruction options, with information on each operation and illustrations which enable patients to see at a glance what each procedure involves.

More than 50 people, including surgeons, specialists and breast care patients contributed to the making of this video, which includes:

  • a script written and approved by medical professionals, including two surgeons and specialists in breast reconstruction care
  • 15 minutes of patient-friendly animations illustrating the surgical process
  • three hours of group discussions where 17 women discuss their experiences of undergoing a variety of surgical treatment

QEHB, in conjunction with QEHB Charity, is pleased to offer other NHS Trusts and health organisations the benefit of using this unique video to assist in the care of their patients for a fraction of the cost of producing the DVD.

If you would like to order the DVD, please get in touch or visit the QEHB Charity website (see link below).
