Research

The Nutrition Support Team is actively involved in research. In carrying out research, our aim is to understand more about our patients’ conditions and explore ways to improve their care. We seek to publish our findings in journals and present findings at national conferences so that the results can be shared with other researchers and healthcare providers.

Some of our projects include exploring the use of parenteral nutrition in patients receiving palliative care, sarcopenia in patients with cancer of the liver, parenteral nutrition in patients with neuro-endocrine tumours, vitamin D deficiency in patients with inflammatory bowel disease and a study of our patients’ perspective during transition of care. In the future, we plan to study body composition in patients attending our clinic to assess the physiological benefits of nutritional support.
