Outpatients

The Liver and Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) Unit also has a dedicated Outpatient Department. The outpatient clinic is run by a senior nurse (sister) with a full support of qualified and ancillary staff.

Our clinics

The Liver and HPB Unit holds a number of clinics covering all aspects of hepato-biliary medicine. In addition to the general medical and surgical clinics we hold a number of clinics for patients with:

  • viral hepatitis
  • alcohol-associated liver disease
  • cystic fibrosis
  • fatty liver
  • metabolic liver disease
  • hepato-biliary and pancreatic cancer

There are also clinics run by our clinical nurse specialists in addiction disorders, primarily for patients with alcohol-related liver disease.  These clinics have close links to the Community Liaison Team in Psychiatry who provide specialist support to our patients.

Specialist clinics for patients with hepato-biliary and pancreatic cancer are run in conjunction with the oncologists at the Queen Elizabeth hospital.

Phlebotomy (blood tests) and venesection are also carried out in the outpatients clinics.
