Meet the team
Dr Lukas Foggensteiner, Consultant Physician and Nephrologist
Dr Foggensteiner is a consultant nephrologist with an interest in ADPKD and other renal genetic diseases. He has established a renal genetic clinic which is run in conjunction with the department of clinical genetics. This specialist clinic sees patients with polycystic renal disease, Alport’s syndrome, uromodulin mediated disease and many other rare conditions. Dr Foggensteiner overseas the adult BBS clinic in the QEH in Birmingham and works closely with Birmingham Children’s Hospital who provide the paediatric counterpart for the service.
Sarah Borrows, Clinical Nurse Specialist – Renal Genetics
Sarah supports and coordinates the renal genetic clinics and liaises closely with clinical genetics and paediatric nephrology. She runs a nurse-led clinic service for patients with diagnosed renal genetic conditions and also supports a specialist national multidisciplinary clinic for patients with Bardet Biedl Syndrome.
