Mr Alastair Denniston, Consultant Ophthalmologist (Uveitis/Medical Retina) & Hon Senior Lecturer

Alastair Denniston is Consultant Ophthalmologist (Uveitis and Medical Retina) at the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust and Hon Senior Lecturer, College of Medical and Dental Sciences.

Alastair’s specialist interests within ophthalmology are ocular immunity, ocular imaging and outcome measurement in inflammatory eye disease.

His laboratory work in immunology is directed towards understanding what causes intraocular inflammation (uveitis) and other forms of inflammatory eye disease.

Miss Marie Tsaloumas, Consultant Ophthalmologist (Medical Retina)

Marie Tsaloumas is Consultant Ophthalmologist with special interest in diseases of the retina, including Punctate Inner Choroidopathy (PIC).

As well as general ophthalmology and cataract surgery, Miss Tsaloumas has a sub specialty interest in PIC, diabetic eye disease, age related macular degeneration and vascular diseases of the eye. She has extensive experience in retinal laser treatment and other treatment modalities for diabetic eye disease and in the treatment of wet macular degeneration (age related and otherwise) with photodynamic therapy, Lucentis and Avastin injections.
