New Sport and Exercise Medicine consultant

The Trust’s Sport and Exercise Medicine (SEM) Service has a new member of the team.

Dr Kim Gregory, Consultant in Sport and Exercise Medicine, currently works at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust where she leads the Paediatric and Adolescent SEM service. She is looking forward to joining the team at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) whilst continuing her role in Leicester.

Dr Gregory qualified from Warwick Medical School in 2005 after completing a BSc in Physiology with Nutrition from the University of Southampton. She has a master’s degree in Sport and Exercise Medicine from the University of Bath and is now an examiner for the same programme. She is a Fellow of the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine UK.

Dr Gregory works with athletes across a wide range of sports competing at both junior and senior national and international level in her role as sports physician for the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS). In 2012, she was a field of play sports doctor at the London Olympic and Paralympic Games and was a sports medicine doctor at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. She is currently Team Doctor for the GB Senior Women’s Ice Hockey team and a national classifier for British Athletics having previously worked with the GB Disability Target Shooting team and the England Blind Football Development Squads.

In her spare time, Dr Gregory attempts to stay active having previously been a keen swimmer and enjoys catching up with friends and family and watching sport away from the touchline.

Sport and Exercise Medicine

Sport and Exercise Medicine is a discipline within medicine and physiotherapy that deals with problems, often musculoskeletal, relating to participation in exercise or competitive sport. UHB offers a comprehensive service delivered by musculoskeletal physiotherapists and a consultant in Sport and Exercise Medicine.
