Respiratory support team
The Respiratory Support Team (RST) consists of respiratory specialist physiotherapists and clinical nurse specialists who provide advice and education for patients, carers and staff at QEHB and the local area.
The team work closely with respiratory consultants to support the management of patients with long term respiratory conditions including:
- Asthma
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and
- Bronchiectasis
The RST also offer an early supported discharge service (ESD). This enables patients with a non-complex admission and an exacerbation of COPD to be discharged home early under the supervision of respiratory specialists to wean treatment within the home.
