Endoscopy

The Endoscopy Unit at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) is made up of four dedicated outpatient rooms and an inpatient suite. The unit is open every day for outpatient and emergency inpatient procedures, and two evenings per week.

We are proud to be a JAG accredited Endoscopy centre. Being JAG accredited means the unit maintains the best standards in quality as well as patient care and safety.

The unit performs an array of complex and specialist procedures including:

  • gastroscopy
  • flexible Sigmoidoscopy
  • colonoscopy
  • bronchoscopy
  • endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS)
  • endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)
  • endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)

The unit is also a bowel cancer and bowel scope screening centre.

We have a dedicated Endoscopy nursing team, which is very experienced in all forms of endoscopy.
