Our satellite dialysis centres

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) dialysis patients attend satellite centres in order to undergo dialysis treatments.

Satellite centres are nurse-led outpatient facilities, specially designed to provide high quality dialysis treatment in a community setting. Wherever possible, patients will dialyse in the unit closest to their home address.

UHB commissions specialist providers to run its satellite dialysis units across Birmingham and the wider West Midlands region. Several new units have been built to ensure patients receive the highest quality care as close to their home as possible.

The purpose-built dialysis centres provide light, spacious treatment areas for patients to undergo dialysis.

Patients benefit from state-of-the-art machines and technology to guide treatment. They are also able to see their renal consultant at the centre through regular scheduled appointments.

Other benefits for patients include:

  • WiFi access
  • Individual TVs for each dialysis station
  • Soft uplighting to aid sleep
  • Natural light with outdoor views
  • Ample free parking
  • Close to local public transport links
