Podiatry is a form of healthcare that provides diagnosis, treatment and preventative care of patients with foot and lower limb problems. It was previously referred to as chiropody.

The podiatry service is a small team of highly skilled podiatrists who provide a service to both outpatients and inpatients within the Trust.

All Podiatrists are registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC).

The department is located within Area 1 of the Outpatients Department where a two room clinic is in operation. This clinic receives referrals from GP’s, consultants and other health care professions.

Podiatrists work with many departments within the hospital including Sports and Exercise Medicine, Trauma and Orthopaedics, Rheumatology as well as Diabetes. There is a very limited inpatient Podiatry service; patients are seen based on medical need.

The Diabetes foot clinic is supported by the Diabetes consultant and Vascular consultant team in a multi-disciplinary clinic environment.

The department offer an e-referral Choose and Book nail surgery and heel pain clinic which GP’s can refer into via the Choose and Book pathway.
