Information about upper gastrointestinal research
Our patients may be asked to take part in research studies and clinical trials as we believe this plays a vital role in advancing the treatment we deliver.
Through clinical research we can discover knowledge to help us understand the underlying causes of different oesophageal and gastric conditions, and develop new treatments and cures.
- We support the Birmingham Health Partnership with the University of Birmingham to promote and provide facilities for clinical research
- We work with the CRUK Cancer Centre, which was the first Cancer Research UK Centre established in the UK with £9m annual backing to support development and collaborative research
- We also work with the Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Facility located on-site, which receives £12.8m for clinical research; the largest grant of its type in the UK
