You said, we did – sexual health online booking system
You said
University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) runs the Umbrella sexual health service which covers Birmingham and Solihull.
The service has been up and running since August 2015.
Service users can book appointments via telephone and for certain clinics only, via an online booking system.
The online system did not allow patients to change or cancel their appointments, and did not display correctly on smaller devices, including mobile phones. Service users found this frustrating and gave lots of feedback to suggest a new system was required. They commented that the system was slow, was not user-friendly, and didn’t include all Umbrella sites.
We did
A brand new online booking system, which works on a range of devices, launched in November 2017. Developed in-house by the Trust’s IT team, the system allows service users to book appointments at Umbrella clinics and also reschedule or cancel their appointment times.
The launch of the new booking system went well, with 351 appointments booked within the first week, and feedback so far has been very positive. In addition, the new functionality was pressed into use as 11 follow-up appointments were booked, 20 appointments were cancelled and 22 appointments were rescheduled.
