Hearing Implant Programme team
Will Brassington, Consultant Clinical Scientist - Audiology
Will has overall responsibility for the management of Audiology Services at UHB. He qualified in 1991 and graduated from the University of Manchester.
Will joined UHB in 2017, having previously worked for 11 years as the Head of Audiology in Nottingham. He held the role of President of the British Academy of Audiology between 2013/14 and non-executive director of the Academy of Healthcare Science from 2014–2018. He is currently the West Midlands Clinical Research Network Lead for Audiology.
Stuart Burrell, Audiologist
Stuart was part of the team that set up the Midlands Implant Program back in 1989 and performed the first switch on in 1990.
He has continued to work with hearing implants ever since but also has broader case load including bone conduction hearing implants, tinnitus and patients with complex hearing losses.
Stuart also manages the general Audiology service within the Trust.
Stacey Cooper, Clinical Scientist (Audiology)
Louise Craddock, Audiological Scientist Programme Co-ordinator
Louise manages the Midlands hearing implant programme. Prior to UHB, she worked on the London cochlear implant programme with UCL and the RNTNEH.
Louise graduated from the University of Washington in Seattle, USA and co-edited “Cochlear Implants – A Practical Guide (2nd Edition)”.
From 2007 – 2010, she chaired the British Cochlear Implant Group and advised the NICE committee on the Cochlear Implant Health Technology Appraisal in 2009.

Tracy Wright, Hearing Therapist
Tracy has worked in the field of Cochlear Implants since 1999. She has a special interest in rehabilitation and providing tailor made therapy to patients with severe to profound hearing loss and ear related balance problems.
Tracy co-ordinates the team for transition from paediatric cochlear implant patients to adult services and is also a Confidential Contract working with the Freedom to Speak up Guardian.

Richard Irving, Consultant ENT Surgeon
Chris Coulson, Consultant ENT Surgeon
Graduated from Nottingham University and trained in West Midlands with fellowship training in Toronto, Canada. Clinical interests in chronic middle ear disease, balance ossiculoplasty and implantation otology. Research interest in robotic surgery.
Peter Monksfield, Consultant ENT Surgeon
Charlie Huins, Consultant ENT Surgeon
Graduated from University College London with ENT training in London. Surgery fellowship training in Cambodia and at the Sydney Cochlear Implant Centre. Clinical interests: chronic ear disease, balance, surgery for hearing and cochlear implantation.
Rupan Banga, Consultant ENT Surgeon
Graduated in from Sheffield University and trained in the West Midlands with fellowship training in Perth, Western Australia. Clinical interests include chronic middle ear disease, surgery for hearing, implantation otology and balance.
Audiology and Otology Research Support
Amy Gosling, NIHR ENT/Audiology Project Manager
Amy is the project manager for all the research projects carried out by the Audiology and Otology teams. Amy has a degree in Psychology and a Masters in Health, Bioethics and Law. She helps the team to develop and deliver grants, set-up clinical research trials and manages the group's research portfolio. Amy is also the project manager for the i4i funded middle ear microphone project.

Laura Boddy, NIHR ENT/Audiology Project Support Officer
Laura provides project support for the research projects that the Audiology and Otology team carry out and is the main point of contact for the patient and public involvement audiology group ‘PANDA’. Laura has previously worked for Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and West London Mental Health NHS Trust. She has completed a degree in Japanese and History at Birkbeck, University of London, with a focus on medieval medical history.
