QEHB dialysis programme

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham (QEHB) dialysis programme is one of the largest dialysis programmes in the UK and is nationally recognised as leading the way in terms of clinical quality and patient experience.

The programme looks after around 1,200 people on haemodialysis and around 130 patients on peritoneal dialysis treatment across the region.

The QEHB dialysis programme also includes its Home Haemodialysis service, which enables patients to dialyse at home following the completion of a "Home Haemo" training schedule.

In addition, the Trust’s Renal team works closely with the University of Birmingham’s Medical School and has a strong background in research, having achieved the highest score of any regional for its clinical laboratory science. Its active research programme incorporates many clinical trials and specialist studies to further clinical knowledge of dialysis care.
