Transplants

During your admission to hospital for assessment you will have the opportunity to find out all you need to know about liver transplantation. You will also be able to meet other patients who have already had a transplant. The Birmingham Liver Support Group's hospital visiting team call on Wednesday evenings, and are available to answer questions about what it's like to undergo the operation.

It is important that you use your time in hospital to find out all you can about liver transplantation. Some patients find it helpful to keep a diary during their hospital stay. It can help you to remember what investigations you have had and who you have spoken to. You can write down questions that you want to ask the staff next time you see them.

If English is not your first language, we can arrange an interpreter for the counselling and education during your assessment.  Please let us know in advance if you need an interpreter.

For more information on transplants, please see our patient information leaflets and factsheets.
